Torin: The Explorer

Torin has really started to explore EVERY part of our household. I turned around for 2 seconds the other day and he was headed to the laundry room. This morning he was crawling around and we saw him headed to his exersaucer. He climbed right underneath it and thought it was the best thing ever.

Torin's First Time to the Pool

Torin's school was closed for Good Friday. My sister and her family were spending the weekend in San Antonio so we took advantage of the day off and we went down to visit them. This was Torin's first visit to a swimming pool. Our little laid back boy loved it. Loved it so much that the 2nd day, he totally fell asleep in his float! Ahhh, the life!

Here are some pics from the weekend.

Torin Crawling and Dancing

Torin's latest tricks are doing a full-on army crawl and dancing to music. Here is a little video of both. He really gets into the music sometimes but I haven't been able to capture that on video yet.

A little song and bounce...

Okay, so this is the delinquent dad here, finally adding my overdue two cents to this here blog! I am working from home today and the rest of the week. And, I'm finding it hard to focus 'cause I've got the darn cutest little distraction. Torin is just hilarious. He's having a grand ol' time at the "Big Discoveries Table" that mom put together for him yesterday. His favorite thing is to stand and play at the table. Of course, he really doesn't have the balance to stand quite yet, so I have to spot him. It's pretty funny.

Here's a little video of Torin taking a break from the "Big Discoveries Table" to sing you a little song while wearing his monkey hat and bouncing to the beat:

*Dust, dust* So I'm reviving this.

Needless to say it has been a few crazy months. Torin had his first Christmas and of course he made out like a bandit. Hector and I are still trying to figure out where to put everything. Toys, toys everywhere. To see a photobook that I did of Torin's first Christmas go here.

Since we last posted Torin started with rolling and now has moved on to army crawling. It is amazing to see how quickly he can get to where he wants to be. Baby-proofing of our house has begun. Seems like every day, I notice something new that needs to move. Can't take an eye off of him. He has also mastered sitting. He resisted it for the longest but finally got the hang of it in the past 2 weeks.

He has also started eating solids. Man, can this kid eat! And so far, he loves everything we give him although sweet potatoes and carrots are his favorites.

And with food, comes teeth. He isn't even 8 months and he already has FOUR teeth. Every other week or so, another tooth pops on through. Currently he has his 2 front teeth on both top and bottom. Cutest little grin you've ever seen!

Our biggest change over the past few months is Hector went back to work after having a 2 month sabbatical.... and Torin started daycare at 6.5 old. I'm not sure who had the biggest adjustment -- Torin or me. :) Even though we found a small Montessori school with an infant program that we love, it isn't easy letting go enough to let someone else take care of your child. Especially for someone like me (aka control freak). We're getting there and Torin seems to be happy. Of course starting in the middle of flu and cold season wasn't fun. I think we went about 4 or 5 weeks with at least one of us sick. I definitely learned that being a sick mommy while trying to take care of a sick child is one of the hardest things EVER! I think it finally took my Mom coming for a few days and taking care of all of us to get us back on the mend. **Knocks on wood** Hopefully we can stay healthy for a while now.

I think that about sums up it. I guess it is obvious that Hector and I are still just loving being parents to our adorable little man. He truly is the best thing that has ever happened to either of us... and we are madly in love with him.

I've added some pictures to a Shutterfly album to see the last 2 months or so of pictures. Enjoy! I'll also try and update the blog more often. Love- Brenda
